Terroir in Spanish

Ali Hewitt is perfectly happy with her life in London, including her job in wine import and seeing Mike, her friend Sienna’s brother, for the past few months. Then, on New Year’s Eve, she unexpectedly encounters a strange shipment of rare wine, which unleashes a flood of unwelcome memories, and turns everything on its heel.

Her search for answers takes her on a road trip simultaneously across northern Spain and back in time, to where everything started ten years earlier, and the people she left behind. As she immerses herself in the intricacies of Spanish winemaking and the country’s intoxicating culture once more, echoes of her former life make themselves known at every turn, and Ali is forced to confront feelings she has long suppressed, as well as the consequences of her past actions.
Gradually, she begins to realise that in order to find her way back to herself, she must first come to terms with her own decisions, and how they changed everything. But is it even possible to mend what was broken, after all this time?

Terroir in Spanish is the standalone sequel to Tango in Italian, and a love letter to the authentic, lesser-known Spain. It is a tale of passion, memories, broken dreams and buried secrets, but also about never allowing yourself to forget who you truly are. More than that, it is a story about wine, and thereby about people, because the two will always be intricately connected, the way even the subtlest flavour can evoke the most intense emotions.
