This book about the Northwestern part of Skåne is based on guides and background material from the Lund University course NGEA 01 Physical Geography: Introduction to the Global Environment, which was held during the autumn semesters 2004 to 2025. The material provides an introduction and overview of Skånes physical geography, including its general physiographic and ecological features. The students guide has now been expanded into this book, which also serves as a guide for general visitors to Skåne. The suggested excursion, with its list of potential stops, can serve as a starting point and resource for anyone visiting Skåne. Jonas Åkerman

The Author, H. Jonas Åkerman, is an Associate professor emeritus at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science at Lund University, Sweden, where he has been active since 1967. Alongside his primary research focus on permafrost and climate change in Arctic and Alpine environments, he has actively applied Physical Geography to agricultural and rural development projects worldwide.
H. Jonas Åkerman is a board member of the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography (SSAG). He is a Board member of the Swedish National Committee for Geography within the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
H. Jonas Åkerman has over 50 years of experience teaching within the framework of the Department of Physical Geography, Lund University, at all levels, basic, undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, and PhD.
Leading excursions and field courses has been his specialty, and for these, many English-language excursion guides have been produced. These are now, when H. Jonas Åkerman is an Associate Professor Emeritus, being updated and published in a series called ÅKERMANS EXCURSIONS, Learn more during your visit or travel
